The New England Association for College Admission Counseling (NEACAC) announces its Annual Essay Contest for high school juniors and seniors. NEACAC is an educational association of more than 3,700 secondary school counselors, college and university admission and financial aid counselors, and individuals who work with students in the transition from high school to postsecondary education.

 

A winner from each of the New England States will be chosen to receive a $1000 Scholarship.


High school juniors and seniors from NEACAC-member high schools in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont are invited to submit a 500-word essay on the following topic:

 

Describe a counselor, teacher, or coach who has had the greatest influence on your decision to attend college. How has this individual impacted your future? What will you do in college or beyond that will make a difference in your community?

Announcing two “2017” Sammy Pierce Memorial Scholarship - Awards - $1,000 per award.

Sammy Pierce was a real estate professional of the highest caliber. Well known in the area, not only for his real estate expertise, but equally known for his willingness to help others when he saw a need. It is that quality that we hope to find in students today of any age who are going on to higher learning.

Sammy died in a tragic motorcycle accident. As in all accidents, there is never an expectation; no warning; no good-byes. The Crown Point Board of Realtors together with Sammy’s family chooses scholarship

Aspiring Nurse Scholarship

Nursing Schools Almanac has just launched its third annual Aspiring Nurse Scholarship. Our website will award a $1,000 scholarship to an aspiring nurse who best demonstrates:
+ A track record of academic excellence, particularly in science and mathematics
+ A passion for the nursing profession and the overall field of healthcare

This scholarship is open to all high school seniors who plan to pursue college education in nursing, including LPN / LVN, ADN, and BSN programs. Scholarship applications will be accepted until midnight on June 30, 2017.

LUDLOW ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Ludlow Rotary has been providing scholarships to area students for more than 35 years.  For 2017, the Ludlow Rotary has increased its scholarship funding from internal sources by 50% or $3,000.  At a minimum, the Ludlow Rotary expects to award the following scholarships in 2017 to students pursuing further education:

$2,000 Daniel E. Kesman Memorial Scholarship
$2,000 Robert W. Kirkbride Rotary Scholarship (places emphasis on community service)
$2,000 Ralph D. Hogencamp Vocational Education Scholarship (places emphasis on work experience and a realistic career plan)
Three $1,000 traditional scholarships

To be eligible, the student must be a graduating high school senior who lives in Ludlow, Cavendish, Plymouth or Mt. Holly. 

Ludlow Rotary will determine who receives these scholarships based on a 25 point scale, allocating 5 points for each of the following categories:

Scholastic achievement
Financial need
Realistic goals
Sports, extracurricular activities and work experience
Community service
