You may remember hearing about a community fundraiser last year that enabled John DeDeau to return to his homeland in the Congo and build a school. We have recently found out that only the boys are attending since the girls have the job of walking many miles a day to carry water back to the village. The community is once again raising money so that John can purchase well equipment that will travel to multiple villages to drill wells. With a simple coin drop and lots of encouragement, the middle school students have already raised over $500! Students are emptying piggy banks, bringing in birthday money and encouraging each other to contribute. Great job everyone! Let's keep up the momentum!</p>

</span>The 52nd annual VT State Science &amp; Math Fair was held at Norwich University in Northfield last Saturday. 170 students in grades 5-12 were awarded prizes and college scholarships that add up to almost 1 million dollars. <strong>WUHS sophomore Jane Goodwin</strong> was awarded a silver medal for her contribution.  In this "Stuck in Vermont" YouTube episode, Jane and several young leaders of tomorrow speak with Eva Sollberger from 7Days Magazie spoke to the young leaders of tomorrow about their research projects and results.  Jane </span><span style="font-size: 10pt; color: #222222; line-height: normal;">received an Excellent (silver) Medal from the VPA, the Mu Alpha Theta</span><span style="font-size: 10pt; color: #222222; line-height: normal;">(math) Certificate, and a certificate, medallion and $75 from the Navy. Additionally, Jane received a $60,000 scholarship to attend St. Michael's College in Burlington, VT.  Yippeeeee!  Way to go, Jane. </span></p>
