What: 44 solar panels on the middle school roof produce about 14,227 kWh of energy annually.
When: Installed spring of 2011
Who: Teachers, students, parents and community members worked together to brainstorm ideas and apply for the grant.
Why: To save money and oil and to provide educational opportunities. The panels save 8 barrels of oil, and prevent 85.2 lbs of sulfur dioxide and 10.17 tons of carbon dioxide from being emitted into the atmosphere.
How: Funded through a grant acquired by Bernie Sanders and the school; installed by ReKnew Energy of Hartford, VT.
