Welcome to WUHSMS

Woodstock Union High School and Middle School is a comprehensive public school serving students from Barnard, Bridgewater, Killington, Plymouth, Pittsfield, Pomfret, Reading, Woodstock and other neighboring communities.

We have been continually accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges since 1956.

Our locally developed Portrait of a Graduate defines five critical areas that guide our program: skillful communication, self-direction, critical problem-solving, stewardship, and academic excellence.

Students have access to multiple grouped courses and 16 Advanced Placement courses. In addition to course offerings in English, Social Studies, Math, Science, Modern and Classical Languages, and Wellness, we offer a selection of courses in the Arts, Agriculture, and Computer Science, as well as support for student-designed independent studies.

WUHS offers a broad range of co-curricular activities, including 23 varsity athletic teams and various clubs and groups.


School recognition

  • Awarded College Success Awards by GreatSchools.org in 2020 and 2022 recognizing public high schools that excel at preparing students for college and beyond based on college preparation and postsecondary data.

  • Twice included in College Board’s AP District Honor Roll for achieving increases in access to AP courses for a broader number of students and also maintaining or improving the rate at which students earned scores of 3 or higher on an AP Exam.

  • Awarded the AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award recognizing outstanding work engaging more female students in computer science.

  • First Vermont school to implement the Vermont Seal of Biliteracy award recognizing students who have attained proficiency in English and any other language(s) by high school graduation.

  • The first public school to join the NuVuX collaborative network developed by the NuVu Design School in Cambridge, MA to bring design, creativity, and innovation to K-12 schools around the world.

  • Initiated a partnership with Soliya for the organization’s first high school virtual exchang, a unique opportunity for students to engage in online, facilitated, meaningful conversations with peers from around the world to explore global perspectives and gain cross-cultural communication skills.

  • Nominated by the Vermont Agency of Education to join The Canopy Project and represent the state as a top innovative school.

  • Awarded the Campus Compact President’s Community Partner Award by Dartmouth College in recognition of our collaboraton with the college to enhance community life in meaningful and measurable ways.
