3. Applicants must be dedicated to completing a college degree and interested in pursuing a career in the visual and/or performing arts.

Each school year, the Vermont Principals’ Association (VPA) will award $500 scholarships to high school seniors who are the children of VPA members. If you are interested in being considered, please send this form and supporting materials, postmarked no later than May 4, 2026. The scholarships will be announced in June, and will be awarded pending enrollment in their first year of college.

For: Full-time residents of 19 southern Vermont towns (including Chester, Ludlow, Springfield, Weathersfield, Windsor area towns) continuing in 2-year or 4-year programs. Public, private, home-schooled, trade school, college students, adult learners, and previous recipients eligible.

Public and private school students, home-schooled students, trade school students, college students, adult learners, and previous recipients continuing their education are all eligible.

Selection Criteria:

  • Strong history of volunteer or charitable service

  • Leadership skills

  • Humanitarian efforts

  • Commitment to community

Award Distribution: $500 at the beginning of the school year; $500 upon satisfactory completion of the semester. Winners announced in June.

MVEA will award one scholarship to a current 12th grade student at WUHS who is highly considering/ majoring in Education.  Please fill out all necessary information and return to Counseling Services (these will be collected and forwarded to the MVEA Scholarship Committee for consideration and selection).  The amount of this scholarship is $500 and will be awarded in the second semester of college upon successful completion of the first semester and continuation of enrollment in an education program.

Woodstock Garden Club Patsy Highberg Scholarship

For: For students pursuing post-secondary studies related to plant and/or environmental sciences.


The Patsy Highberg Scholarship is awarded to assist individual students in post-secondary studies related to plant and/or environmental sciences. Such studies may include agriculture, botany, conservation, horticulture, forestry, landscape design/architecture, environmental studies, or other related fields.

The scholarship comprises a one-time award on behalf of the individual student in the amount of $2,000, which is paid directly to the student’s chosen college or university.

To apply, please complete the following application and return to the Counseling Office by May 9, 2026. The recipient of the scholarship will be announced at the June Awards Ceremony at the Woodstock Union High School.
