Early College

WUHS students can elect to take college courses through Dual Enrollment and Early College programs, including Dartmouth College’s Community High School Program.

Dartmouth Community High School Student Program

Local high school students are eligible to participate and receive college credit at no cost through Dartmouth's Community High School Student Program.

Students are encouraged to contact Sofia Bertocci sofia.bertocci@mtnviews.org to schedule an appointment

Dartmouth College's Community High School Program (CHSP) is open to seniors (during fall, winter, and spring terms) and juniors (during the winter and spring terms) of area high schools who have exhausted all possible classes within their field of interest at their high school. All students are recommended by a high school principal, counselor, or other school official with responsibility for the program at their school.

Course enrollment instructions

Students interested in taking a course at Dartmouth should consult with their counselor. Counselors, together with the student, complete a registration process that includes submitting a program registration form, reviewing the student handbook, and the college catalog.

Dual Enrollment

Want to get a head start on college while still in high school? Vermont’s Dual Enrollment Program allows high school students to take college courses while still in high school. Participating students earn college credits, reducing the time it takes to get a college degree and potentially reducing the cost associated with college while challenging themselves through college-level curriculum.

Eligibility

Every Junior and Senior at Woodstock Union High School is eligible for TWO free college courses prior to graduation.

How It Works

  1. Explore course options with your school counselor.

  2. Create a Dual Enrollment account http://education.vermont.gov/documents/edu-dual-enrollment-how-to-apply-for-a-voucher.

  3. Explore available courses on the university or college website. Once you select a course, return to the state voucher website and complete a course request. The voucher covers the cost of tuition for up to a 4-credit course at any of the participating colleges. The voucher does not cover the costs of materials and textbooks. Some funding is available through VSAC to help cover these additional costs for students who are eligible for free and reduced-price lunches.

  4. Complete College Registration paperwork. Your counselor will walk each student through this process because it is different at each participating college.

  5. Some schools may require a placement test.

  6. Each student will receive ongoing support throughout the semester.
