April is Alcohol Awareness Month

Members of VTLSP (Vermont Teen Leadership Safety Program) would like to share some information from the last Youth Risk Behavior Survey in relation to alcohol and our students.

WUHS is above the state average for driving in a car or other vehicle when they had been drinking alcohol. This also includes riding with a driver who has been drinking alcohol. We are also slightly above the state's average in binge drinking. WUHS is at 31% in thinking that people are at risk of harming themselves, physically or in other ways, if they have five or more drinks of alcohol once or twice each weekend.

With prom and graduation quickly approaching, we encourage others to not buy alcohol for students or social hosting. Social hosting is providing and/or serving alcohol to a young person who is under 21 years of age, and holding it at your home or on your property. Thank you!
